Dave Phillips is a prolific and internationally renowned experimental musician that has been active since mid 80s. He developed a unique sonic language typified by sharp compositional techniques and strong environmentalist connotations. We could see parallels between his sample based radical music and dada movement with its politic and social criticism that originated in his home city – Zurich. In this lecture Dave will talk about his approach to sound, how it can have a therapeutical effect, about his connection to nature through use of animal sounds and field recordings, how themes of existentialism and self-reflection are referred in his music.
